The Dead and Down

June 26, 2025

In Partnership with the Summer Sampler

The Dead & Down- June 26, 2025

Farmin Park

The Dead & Down are an exploratory roots-rock band inspired as much by the vast landscapes and dramatic mountain ranges of their Montana home as they are by the myriad musical influences that weave through their sound. Based around the introspective songwriting and dusty vocals of frontman Taylor Burlage, the band navigates sonic trails between rust-flecked alt country and swampy rock ‘n’ roll, with detours through psychedelia and genre-bending experimentation. They have opened for the likes of Paul Cauthen, Futurebirds, and the Last Revel and have hit the stage at Under the Big Sky Music Festival, Red Ants Pants Music Festival and more. Their recently released sophomore album, No Broken Bones, displays the sound of a band hungry to find out what lies beyond the next ridge and only just beginning their journey.

“The Dead & Down have a sound that doesn't fit into one bin. They combine elements of Country, Americana, and Rock for a sonic experience that stays interesting. Their new song, “Switchbacks” has a solid country-rock feel, but the break in the middle is a lot more akin to prog rock. It's a combo that works!” - Bob Wall, KGVM Bozeman

“Alt-country, but on the moon––– and still so down to earth.” - The Pulp, Missoula

Sunbathe-July 17, 2025

Heartwood Center at 615 Oak Street

Sunbathe is a guitar-pop band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2015 by songwriter Maggie Morris. Known for her ethereal vocals and introspective songwriting, Morris radiates the smarts and edge of Liz Phair at her anthemic best, but with delicate golden guitar and a glut of catchy harmonies that would make James Mercer shed a little tear. The live band has an exceptional lineup including Adria Ivanitsky, Tyler Figley, and Skyler Hamler. Together, the band has an energetic and joyful presence on stage and a signature sound characterized by shimmering guitars, sweeping melodies, and a deep sense of emotional resonance.

Sunbathe’s musical journey has been marked by exciting milestones, including a notable 2019 recognition as one of Portland’s "Best New Bands." Their growing reputation led them to tour with some of the indie scene's most respected acts, including Typhoon, Built to Spill, and Helio Sequence, garnering an exceptional response from their audiences. With their anticipated 2025 release, “Myself To You”, the band is set to continue impressing audiences far and wide.

Gates will open at 5pm with Bart Budwig starting at 6pm then Sunbathe at 7pm. Food will be available for purchase by Mountain Food Co and Eichardt’s will be serving your favorite beverages.

Special Guest Bart Budwig!

Sometimes when Bart sings, I forget what we’re talking about. I’m sure he knows though. I trust him. He sounds like John Prine, plays like Hoyt Axton, and looks like well...Bart Budwig. He’s a cosmic country lawn gnome. He’s cherubic, cheery, and an old soul. Songs spring from the dreams of his noon day naps, and punch the keys of his typewriter above the OK Theater in Enterprise, Oregon. When words won’t take, he calls 'em in with a bugle of his trumpet, or a strum of soothing guitar. - American Standard Time

Armchair Boogie

August 21, 2024

Sponsored by Pend Orielle Arts Council

Armchair Boogie- August 22, 2025

Farmin Park

Jamgrass, newgrass, funkgrass, whatever you want to call it— Armchair Boogie is rapidly becoming one of the country’s hottest acts. With an unbounded sound, this Wisconsin-based quartet is known for their powerful harmonies, timeless originals, and choice covers, along with unforgettable live performances. Listed as a “Must-See Roots Artists at Bourbon & Beyond'' by The Bluegrass Situation who wrote, “We recently caught this jammy Wisconsin outfit at Earl Scruggs Music Festival, where they burnt down their late-night set.”

Armchair Boogie is Augie Dougherty on banjo with Ben Majeska acoustic & electric guitars backed by tight, driving rhythms of Eli Frieders on electric bass and Denzel Connor on drums.
This unconventional lineup enhances their lightning-fast bluegrass, allowing them to freely venture into the realms of funk or country. A band on the verge, Armchair Boogie is excited to independently release their 4th studio recording, Hard Times & Deadlines, on March 15.
Composing these songs around the beginning of the pandemic, Majeska and Dougherty—who sing lead on the respective songs they wrote—were experiencing the stresses of entering their late 20s.

Gates open at 5 with music from 6-8. Mountain Food Company, Mandala Pizza, and the Eichardt’s Bar will be open to keep you fed and well hydrated. You are welcome to bring your own food or non-alcoholic beverages but please, no outside alcohol. There will also be facepainting in addition to Molly’s Ice Cream Truck for the young and young at heart. Come join us Thursday Aug 21 in Farmin Park!
